The TEFL Worldwide Prague course is an excellent place to learn how to teach English anywhere in the world. Paul and Terry have put together an excellent course that is challenging but at the same time very enjoyable. The rest of the staff are very helpful in job hunting and basic knowledge about the city and what there is to do there. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in teaching English as a profession.

Hey Cheryl,

I'm actually quite busy already! I was hired on the spot when I interviewed with a school on Monday. They threw me to the wolves right away by sending me to the German embassy to teach a Czech woman who'd been getting rid of English teachers after only three hours or so because they didn't give her the type of instruction and correction she wanted. But I went in and very politely and gently, but firmly, laid down the law of "I know you think you know what you want, but I'm the teacher and you'll have to trust that I know how to get you where you want to be. That, by itself, would have been a load of hot air. But I then knocked her socks off by employing all the lessons learned at TEFL Worldwide. I had the organized lesson, the activity materials, the iPod playing the tunes while she worked. I can honestly say I've never been so prepared for something I've done as I've been prepared for this by Paul and Terry. Kudos kudos kudos!!

Anyway, she was surprised and very pleased. So pleased in fact, she called the school to express how happy she was to have me as her teacher. Then the school gave me more teaching hours. Yay! My other interview also went really well. I'm going back to them later today for the follow-up interview. I have an interview with a third school next Wednesday, but I'm thinking that between the first two, I should be busy enough—especially in these first weeks.

Thanks so much, Cheryl. I'm sure you hear this all the time, but it's questionable whether I'd be here if it weren't for your always-up- beat and inviting emails.

Take care,

Dana Cameron

Hey Terry, what's shakin'? I am still in the land of the beautiful Polish ladies, a.k.a, Krakow. I am teaching in a school and having a great time living here.

Oh yeah, get this.... I wanted to let you know that starting next August, I will be working in the beautiful islands of the SEYCHELLES! You'll be sure to get a postcard from that paradise. As I have already told you both, I loved the course. It thoroughly prepared me to teach English in strange places. I have met many people that are teaching English here that never received a TEFL certificate, and let's just say... they're not really good. It's also funny when I talk of how to prepare a grammar lesson in "camouflage grammar" and people think that it's the best idea they've ever heard.

Thanks for providing me with such a good basis of knowledge, that I feel confident teaching anywhere in the world. Your school was just the start of my worldwide adventure, and I hope some day I can do more to show you my appreciation than just a simple email. Tell Paul I say hello, and wish him the best.

Best Regards,
Andy

The course has been everything I had hoped for and Prague is a beautiful city with lots of things to see and do. I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it and would warmly recommend the TEFL course at TEFL Worldwide Prague to anyone with a passion for teaching and the desire to learn more about it. I really enjoy teaching English abroad.

Dear Terry,

How are you my friend? I just wanted to say thank you to you and Paul (I am not sure of Paul's email address.) However, I have returned home just to reconnect with my family and have been looking for jobs ever since. It looks like i might be headed to Asia, I've gotten an offer from China and I'm very happy and excited. I just wanted to say thank you for your constant critique and guidance. Im a better student and person for doing such a program.

Cheers,

Allyn

The intimate structure of the TEFL Worldwide program is a unique experience which allowed for the learning experience and classroom dynamic of the course to closely involve the students and allow a great deal of invaluable first-hand experience. I enjoy teaching English abroad.

Although I had high expectations for the program, the experience I’ve had with TEFL Worldwide has been miles beyond. From the time I arrived to move into the villa, throughout the training, and into my job search, the people at TEFL Worldwide have been tremendous in their support. The course itself is challenging, when you complete it you know you have the skills to make it as a teacher.

I completed the TEFL Worldwide Prague course in the March/April session of 2004, and was thoroughly impressed with it in every possible respect. Paul and Terry, the two trainers, are wholly professional, experienced, enthusiastic and supportive. I found the course challenging and enjoyable, with an atmosphere of intense learning fostered in a highly enjoyable environment. A great deal of extra-curricular support is also provided, ranging from advice on accommodation to guidelines on where to look for TEFL jobs.

The materials supplied during the course are comprehensive and well thought out, and the course covers all aspects of TEFL, including various academic approaches to teaching, teaching practice, learning methods, learning tools, and intensive and frequent teaching feedback. I found the course to be everything I had hoped for, and cannot recommend it highly enough for those wishing to gain TEFL accreditation in a city as vibrant and intoxicating as Prague.

I chose TEFL Worldwide because I was really attracted to the smaller, initmate feel of it. Cheryl’s attentiveness and communication with me was great, as was the general helpfulness of the organization. The instructors at TEFL Worldwide were probably the best part of the program. The schedule was just right, not too strenuous. The sessions were fun and I learned loads. I really enjoyed the teaching practice. The job guidance was good and I very much appreciated the personal help.

I'd like to take a moment to recommend Terry and Paul's school to anyone thinking of heading off to Europe to teach. As a TEFL teacher and trainer between the years of 1990 and 2001, I spent many of them in Prague working alongside these two excellent trainers. We developed programs, experimented with different material and created a course that was not only enjoyable, but could be applied to practically every TEFL situation around the world. That was over six years ago! Since that time, both of my esteemed colleagues have furthered their depth of teaching knowledge by teaching in the Middle East. They know what it takes to have a fun and productive time in the classroom, and how to make a success of the adventure that is living abroad. There is no better place to start such an endeavour of teaching English abroad than Prague, and I'd recommend the TEFL Worldwide program to anyone. Don't hesitate to call or email me for advice or further information.

I currently am in Uijongbu, South Korea (about an hour and a half train ride outside of Seoul) and have been here for about five weeks. Guess what landed me the job? My TEFL degree. The recruiting boss at the school said my resume was much better than the other applicants and he specifically mentioned my TEFL degree.

It's weird being a minority for the first time in my life. At least once a week a child or an adult has come up to me to start a conversation. Usually it doesn't last too long because they don't know much English and I only know three Korean words but it's all smiles and bowing. Or if I'm on the bus, I'll catch a child staring at me and I'll wave and smile back. Sometimes I'll ask them their name and they usually turn away with a big grin on their face and tell their mother or father.

I teach children as young as 7 and as old as 16. The 7 year olds ate me alive the first week of teaching. Right from the start I had to start using some of the classroom management techniques I learned in the course and also develop some of my own! Honestly, all of the children are wonderful. I was amazed at how many hours of school these kids go through each day. Most kids go to school at 8 a.m. and don't return home until 7, 8 or even 9 p.m. It's even later for the older students. Many of them also attend school on Saturdays. Their English class is a bit of a release for them and I try to make everything as fun as possible.

I will be sure to send a postcard very soon. I have not done much exploring yet so I don't have any pictures to share. I enjoyed the course very much and it was much more than what I was expecting. It was intense and was perfect for someone like me. I was unsure if I would enjoy teaching and most importantly if I would actually be able to teach. Thanks to Terry and Paul for the amazing experience I had at the school. It felt very rewarding to graduate from the program. I also think that I was lucky to have so many great people in the course with me. I still email most of them from time to time and it's great to hear from friends in Turkey, Poland, the Czech Republic, China, etc.

Once again, thank you for everything and I hope the school continues to be successful.

Take care,
Grant Hunter
