Can you believe it’s almost December? I cannot. My anniversary is quickly approaching, one year in Prague. It feels like a long time but at the same time, only a few months. So much has gone on in the past months, my birthday, Halloween, a long weekend in Zurich. Though I won’t get into it too much, Viktor and I share a birthday weekends, so we just had a really nice quiet weekend. On Halloween, we went to Bunkr to dance the night away. What you’ve never seen dancing pandas?

Yes, I’m leaving but have no fear; it’s only for 2.5 weeks. It’ll be my first time home in a year. I’m so excited to see my friends and family, I feel like I’ve missed a lot there. My brother had a baby while I was gone! I told him I was going to kidnap him for a day or two when I got there. Also a lot of things have changed since I’ve been gone. My parents moved to Florida two weeks after I left but I don’t think it’s possible for me to see their new house on this trip. It’s weird to say, ‘I’ve never been to my parents’ house’. It’s okay though; I’ve seen plenty of pictures and had a skype tour. I look forward to hopping in their hot tub but in the meantime, New York has a lot of new things for me. My brother bought my childhood house and he now lives there with his family. So while I’m excited to go back, I think it is good that I won’t be there for too too long, I need time to get used to it all, like in installments.
So as for life in Prague, I absolutely love my job. I really do! The kids are amazing and they surprise me everyday. I have three and four year old children and I am the first English teacher they have ever had. So when I see progress I really see progress. They never cease to amaze me. “Look (point to the light) was purple, now red” or “Shoe tighter please” or “You tiger, run us”, uttered by a child who had hardly ever heard English and was trying to get me to pretend I was a tiger and chase the children around. They really want to communicate with me and have moved from “more please” to trying to tell me stories and believe me, sometimes I have absolutely no idea what they are trying to tell me but it makes them try harder and harder. I feel that I’m so lucky to work in such a great place, well not that this job fell into my lap, I worked hard to find it but I’m happy that I did!

My boyfriend is coming to New York with me so that is really exciting. He’s always showing me beautiful things all over Prague and the Czech Republic and Europe actually but now I get to be his tour guide so he’s set the bar high and I have to work hard and show him all of the sites but mostly I’m excited to show him the food, is that bad? I can’t wait to eat pizza and a bagel, not together of course.
Before we go to New York, we have a bit of time here so I think next weekend we’ll take a weekend trip to Cesky Krumlov. It’s lovely, not far, clean but the best part is that we have a place to stay for free! I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but sleeping in a small room in a charming bookstore, it’s my dream come true. Also, we have to go to a wedding in two weeks. Viktor’s childhood friend who is also living in Prague is marrying an American girl. It’ll be nice but I’m sure it’ll be hard for her because most of her friends and family will not be able to attend. We’ll be sure to show her a good time though! Well I’m going to start making ‘breakfast’ and then get on with my lazy Sunday morning.
