Once you decide that you'd like to reserve a place on the course you'll need to submit the non-refundable 350 Euro deposit. The balance is due six weeks before the course. Of course if we have openings you can enroll at anytime so contact us for the availability.

    Cancellation Terms

The 350 Euro deposit is non-refundable. However, if you need to cancel you may transfer your 350 Euro deposit to a future available course. A 50 Euro transfer fee will be charged.

Your course balance of 950 Euros will be due 6 weeks before the course start date, in order to continue your reservation. If you pay the balance before the 6-week deadline and you need to cancel, the balance that you paid (minus the 350 Euro deposit) will be refunded. If you cancel after 6 weeks before the course start date you will not be refunded but you may transfer your balance and deposit to a future available course. There is a 100 Euro transfer fee if you need to cancel and transfer your balance after the 6-week deadline.

The cancellation fees do not apply if you are on a waiting list for another course and an opening comes up for you.

If you cancel less than two weeks before the course there is no refund but you may transfer your tuition to one of the courses taking place between February and May. There's a possibility of coming during the high season depending on availability.

TEFL Worldwide is taking the responsibility for booking your housing. Therefore we are held responsible for the housing fee if you cancel less than 4 weeks before the course start date. When you pay your deposit you are also reserving a place in the student housing. The housing fee needs to be paid in cash to the housing owner when you arrive. This is non-negotiable. You can not cancel your housing reservation whenever you want. You will not be able to cancel your student housing option anytime after 4-weeks before the course start date. So, plan accordingly. If you change your mind about the student housing you need to let us know at least 4 weeks before the course. Otherwise you will be expected to pay your housing fee upon arrival no matter where you decide to stay. You will not be allowed to start the course until your housing fee is paid.

    Items to Bring

    • Traveller's insurance. (mandatory by Czech law). You'll need to be insured in case of an accident or illness while abroad. Buy the insurance for a month or two. Then depending on whether or not your employer offers insurance benefits you can always extend the insurance. Try the following websites for details:
      www.imglobal.com www.insuranceabroad.com
Also check with major insurance providers. Many major providers provide traveller's insurance so check with them too.
    • You will need a course book and English grammar book for during and after the course. These can be purchased at TEFL Worldwide for appx. 450kc to 750kc depending on which book you'd like.
      a. Practical English Usage, Michael Swan
      b. How English Works, Michael Swan and Catherine Walter
      c. Grammar Express, Fuchs, Bonner & Bourke
      d. English Grammar in Use, Raymond Murphy
    • Debit/Credit Cards. Be sure to check with your bank to let them know you'll be in Europe so they can lift any international blocks. Also be sure to find out and adjust your daily or weekly withdraw limit. Your housing fee needs to be paid in cash upon arrival so you must be able to withdraw that or have the amount with when you arrive.
    • About $15 for photocopying for your lesson plans during the course. (cost is 1 kc/copy)
    • Some smart clothes for teaching - a tie for men is only necessary for interviews.
    • Notarized copy of your university diploma or degree, if you have one. (This may be needed in order to get a working visa.) You can order an official copy of your birth certificate from www.vitalchek.com. Or you can simply take your original birth certificate and diploma to a Notary, have them make a photocopy and sign and stamp the copies as proof that they are "official notarized copies." Regular photocopies are not acceptable.
    • Hard and soft copies of your CV/resume (although we can help you prepare this once in Prague if you do not already have it).
    • A voltage converter if you plan to bring any electrical appliances from North America and everybody should bring plug adaptors for continental Europe - the circular two-pronged variety.
    • Czech phrase book.
    • School supplies. (Notebook, pen, glue, scissors and other things that you'll need for teaching. You can easily get this in Prague.)
    • Bath Towels
    • If you have a laptop feel free to bring it. You can hook up to our free wireless connection.
    • About 500kc (appx. $20 or 17 Euros) for a one month metro pass.
    • A good sense of humor and adventure!

  • Housing Options

Please choose your housing preference. (1, 2, or 3). You must place your course deposit in order to have a housing reservation

    .
    1. A private bedroom in an apartment. You will have your own private bedroom with a lock and will share a kitchen and bathroom with other TEFL students. The price is 8000 to 8500Kc (Czech Crowns) for 30 nights. (Click here for the current exchange rate. www.xe.com/ucc). Each extra night will cost 400 Kc. If you are coming with a friend and would like to share a bedroom the price is 6000 Kc each for 30 nights. In this case each extra night will cost 300kc each. Rooms in the apartments are limited and are filled on a first come first serve basis. If the rooms are filled we will house you for the same price at a nearby hotel. The hotel does not have a kitchen but you'll have a private room with a private bathroom and for this price you can't even find a nice hostel in Prague.

    2. Private apartment with one bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. (There are only 2 private apartments available for each course and they go fast.) The private apartment is ideal for a couple, friends or someone who wants a little more privacy. The cost for this is 10000 Kc on a single occupancy basis or 12000 Kc for two people sharing for 30 nights. Extra nights are 450 Kc for single occupancy or 600 Kc for double occupancy.
*Rooms in the apartments are limited and are filled on a first come first serve basis. If the rooms are filled we will house you for the same price at a nearby hotel.

*Payment is made in full in cash upon arrival and a 2000kc returnable deposit is also required.

*Housing option 1 is available for TEFL Worldwide students only

    3. You can arrange your own housing. Hostel prices range from 8 to 10 Euros/night. Hotels usually start at 25 Euros/night and you might be able to find a bed and breakfast for about 20 Euros/night depending on the season and location.
      • If you'd like to find your own private apartment for the month of the course you can expect to spend 550 to 700 Euros/month for a furnished studio or one bedroom apartment.
      • If you are willing to sign a one year lease then the cost will be much cheaper, 325 to 500 Euros/month for a furnished studio or one bedroom apartment or 200-300 Euros for a shared apartment with your own private bedroom. There will probably be a fee of one months rent if you use a realtor to help you find an apartment. This option is the most difficult options unless you know Prague or have a contact here. You would have to arrive early and find a place to stay while searching for your own apartment and this could end up being more expensive than the housing we offer during the course.
