Cost of Living
The cost of living in Prague is significantly lower than in Western Europe and America. How much money will you need during the course and after if you decide to stay in Prague? This all depends on your spending habits but below you can find some average costs that'll help you budget for your time here.

Basic living costs:
Apartment with roommates: 6000kc to 8500kc per bedroom
Monthly transportation pass: 500kc
Groceries for a month: 2400kc to 3200kc
So, you can assume that you’ll need a minimum of 9000kc to live on.

Wine at a bar or restaurant: 35kc to 60kc
Eating out: 80kc to 250kc for a meal and a drink

Clothes shopping: Prices are comparable to any other major city but there aren’t as many sales or as big of a selection.
Traveling in the Czech Republic: Very affordable. Trains and buses go all over the country for 100kc to 400kc round-trip. You can stay in hostels or a bed and breakfast in many towns for 250kc to 500kc per night with breakfast included.

Should you decide to stay here after the course, you can find a private room in a furnished and shared apartment for around 6500kc to 8500kc/month. Utilities are usually included. Many students find reasonable housing one or two metro stops from the city center. Some of our graduates choose to live directly in the center of Prague, enjoying the daily bustle and exciting nightlife! The majority of teachers in Prague choose to share an apartment while teaching in order to cut back on their living expenses. Most TEFL Worldwide graduates decide to live together after befriending each other during the course. Should you choose to rent a private studio or one-bedroom flat you can find something for around 8500kc to 15,000kc +/month depending on your preferences, location, size, furnishings, etc
Prague cuisine offers endless possibilities! Everything is available from traditional Czech food to restaurants specializing in delicious vegetarian and ethnic treats.
A meal at a Czech restaurant (meat, potatoes, vegetable and beer) is between 80kc to 150kc. Meal at an Italian restaurant (pizza or pasta and wine or beer) is between 120kc to 200kc. You can also find Mexican, vegetarian, Thai and Chinese food within this price range. If you are in the mood for a nice juicy steak with potatoes, broccoli and wine, expect to pay about 300kc to 400kc.
If you decide to eat at home you can easily get by on 600kc to 800kc per week. There are several major grocery store chains in Prague which offer great discounts. There are also many small shops specializing in fresh produce and food products from abroad.
You can take a bus or train to the mountains or villages for around 90kc to 200kc round trip, depending on how far you go. When you travel within the Czech Republic there are numerous hotels and Bed & Breakfasts that start as low as 250kc to 500kc per person with breakfast included. Many teachers learn about new Czech towns from their students and are often lucky enough to be taken on weekend excursions where they stay in their private cottages.
The clubs in Prague usually charge a cover charge of 100kc to 200kc. However, a handful of clubs offer free entry and there are numerous lively bars and pubs to hang out in. Typical tourist attractions are usually 60kc to 150kc. Prague Castle is an exception. It is about 200kc but well worth it.
Prague is such a beautiful city to explore that there are many activities which can be done free of charge. One of the best is to take in the breathtaking view of the city from the beer garden at Letna Park. Renting paddle boats on the Vltava River is great way to spend an afternoon with friends during the warm season!
